Information Age

As part of our life, new media evolves. After using an old wired telephone and early computer, today we have cell phones and laptop. A telephone that can communicate anywhere with-in the signal area (cellular phones). Before, cellphones functions were only for text messages, calls, and a simple graphic design game. Today cell phones have many functions like you can send a picture by using MMS, email, take a picture, make a video, play a music and browse anything with the help of internet. A cellular phone that built to multi-task.

After the personal computer, they invented laptop. A portable computer that you can bring in any places and put it on your lap. Same functions like personal computers. The difference are can be in designs, size, memory capacity, browsing speed, updated software and touchscreen capable.

Now, these two modern technologies have already been part of our everyday life. Everyone was using cell phones. Most people used laptop or computers. It helps us to make our job easily. I guess I can say that these gadgets were a very big thing in today’s generation.

Internet for everyday life

New media is defined as all that is related to the internet and the relationship between technology, images, and sound. But as technology evolves, the definition of new media seems to change fast depending on how people use it. Today it helps us to communicate easily especially to those people who are apart from us. It provides us the fastest way to communicate, unlike before that we have to wait for weeks, even months to hear from our family or friends from afar.

Today’s media also gives us information and feedback in almost everything question we had. For example, when I choose Multimedia Arts course and I want to understand it more, I just browsed the internet and no need to visit any university to inquire what it is all about by using the internet. It allowed me to have more time to do other things. The Internet is one of the best things ever invented.

It is now considered as part of everyone’s life that is used daily in office, school, and other businesses. New media is accessible anytime and anywhere. A new tool for everyone. A big help to the world and mankind.

Why MMA

I already went up on stage and received my college diploma. But here I am taking another course. Not everyone would understand why I decided to go back to school, but I am doing this for myself and my family. After being out there in the real world, being part of the workforce, I realized that there's still much I need to learn. There's still much I want to learn. And that thirst for new knowledge led me to multimedia arts.

I believe I have some talent when it comes to arts. I have design ideas, for example, that I want to transform into something visible and with the aid of technology, I know I can do that. I want to learn more about it through formal education and get a bachelor's degree at the end of it.

In this age of new media where almost everything is going digital, one cannot afford to be left behind. I believe it's never too late for me to start on something new again, so I am pursuing this path where I can put my ideas out there more effectively through the new media and the internet. I also hope that this will lead me to a more fulfilling career wherein I enjoy and love what I am doing.
